Wallis House - Great West Quarter Development
Wallis House has been refurbished as part of a major residential development for Barratt Homes, known as Great West Quarter.
They have retained the Ground and Lower Ground floors for their offices, and this contract was for the Main Entrance Foyer and Reception to those offices. The shell comprised brick and block walls, and in-situ concrete soffites and balconies, and we were awarded the contract to provide the finishes.
Ceilings: The coffers and lighting troughs were formed in fibrous plaster, and all other areas including bulkheads, balcony soffites etc were of Knauf board on an m/f suspended system. Details included strip-light apertures, access panels, and work associated with the fire-curtain installation. All areas received a taped and jointed finish.
Walls: All the brick & block walls, and the concrete walls to the balconies and stairs, were plastered. Circular columns were formed in fibrous plaster, and were supported with metal studwork. The columns have fluted and moulded details at the tops. The square columns were drylined on metal studwork, and taped and jointed. Details included the curved surfaces, fire curtain detail, and fair ends to the glazing.
The decoration to these areas was also carried out by OCL Ltd
The work at high level (8M) was carried out from a birdcage scaffold.
